Monday daddy had off work (b/c of Columbus Day - I love that fact that he is a government employee now :) so after school we headed to pick out a couple of pumpkins from a grassy place with pumpkins piled on it. I made the mistake of calling it a pumpkin patch before we went and though the kids had fun they were a little disappointed that there was no hay rack ride, cutting pumpkins off the vine, feeding animals, and fun activities - we are hoping to head to a pumpkin patch some weekend before the end of the month but we will see. They enjoyed looking through all the pumpkins and picking one out. Kiley picked a nice small pumpkin and Eli searched long and hard for the perfect one. As we wheeled the pumpkins to the checkout I was shocked to realize that Eli had picked out a $35 pumpkin (that is not a typo - crazy) Anyway, I informed him that I was not going to spend that much money on a single pumpkin and he could go and pick out another one. So, being the politician that he is he asks if we could split the cost and he could pay for part of it. I was a little surprised b/c this is the child who does not spend his money on anything b/c he can not ever decide what he wants! He was determined to get the pumpkin so he departed with some of his money and made his first big purchase - a pumpkin that will rot out soon. Got to love him - and he loves his pumpkin!
