The kids and I headed to the Lincoln Zoo the other day w/our summer fun pass coupons. I will just have to say upfront that if any one is thinking of going think of it more as a large park with a few animals and you will not be disappointed. So despite the absence of elephant, giraffes, zebras, lions...and any other large zoo animal (other than the camel who Eli was concerned was about to loose his humps :)) the kids had a good time. The have a little place to touch a variety of animals and the butterfly house is kind of neat. As you go in a lady sprays your finger w/red sticky and apparently sweet stuff to help attract the butterflies to you. Kiley thought that is was better served to curb her appetite and though Eli tried his hardest he was not able to attract a butterfly to stay on his finger - that is until his sister grabbed on by the wings to give him - oops?! Here are a few pictures.

The kids enjoyed getting into the bald eagle's nest after I reassured Eli that the bird did not use it anymore.

It is always amusing what is in the mind of a four year old. The other day Eli had been quizzing me on the concept of marriage, how it happens, who does it, how you pick who to marry... Well yesterday he was looking out the window in the front and said, "Man, I sure hope that I grow up soon." (I was surprised b/c lately he has been saying that he does not want to get old b/c he does not want to have wrinkled hands :)) Well when I asked him why he said b/c Ally is bigger than him and he is going to marry her(Ally is in the 3rd grade). He said it very matter of fact and I asked if she knew this and he said, "No, not yet, but I am sure that she will not mind!"

So our Sunday tradition when we are in town is to go to early church and then to the farmers market. There is a man there who grills and Eli can have his hamburgers so it is a nice treat for him. We walk through the market and pick up lunch and then eat it in the back of the highlander while we listen to the live music and watch the people. The kids love it and Eli says that they are the most delicious hamburgers in the whole world :)

If you noticed the battle wound on Eli's face, my bike fell on top of him. He was using his sit and twist scooter and bumped the kick stand. I had just taken Kiley out of her seat on the back and did not catch it quick enough :(

My Grandpa has a birthday today and we went to Waterville to visit and take him a cake Friday. They always appreciate the company and the kids did great. Eli got to pick radishes out of Grandpa's garden and Kiley enjoyed feeding the horses cantaloupe.
