On Friday Eli's school had a festival. This year in history we have been studying the medieval period so we had some fun activities from this time in history as well as some field day type games. The kids had races, tug of war, archery, horse riding, dancing, and actual jousting lessons (which was pretty cool to watch - the younger kids did not get to completely suit up but they still had fun)

Eli did not want a big party on his birthday this year so... On Thursday Kiley and I took cupcakes to school and had lunch with him.
Then on Friday (his actual birthday) we took cupcakes around to some friends and neighbors. Saturday he wanted to have his friend Caleb over with his family and he asked if I thought we could have the party 8-5?! The Porterfields came over mid morning. We had a football game in the backyard, then a scavenger hunt around the house, backyard, neighborhood, and around the trail near the house. Both Eli and Caleb are reading the Box Car Children books which always have a mystery or something that the children have to figure out so they enjoyed the scavenger hunt and it lead them to the lake. We had pizza and cake at the lake and spent the afternoon swimming. It was a lot of fun.
