Today we were driving home from walking at the mall and Kiley had just asked for some gum. As I am driving she says, "Look Mom" I half way look and think that I see her gum in her hand and tell her to put it in her mouth and not play with it. She is quiet for a minute or two and then says, "Mom why did you tell me to put my boogies in my mouth?" GROSS
This past weekend we had company. Turkey, Eli's class turtle came home with him. Both the kids loved having him here. I did have to put him up high the first night home since Kiley was determined to get him out. Eli had to journal about what he did each day and give a report to the class. He really was kind of cute...

This week has been a nice 'short' week. Eli had school off Monday and Tuesday and we enjoyed the family time. Whenever he has a break and is actually rested up it makes me want to keep him out of school b/c his days just run so much smoother and Kiley and him play great - I am sure only because they are not playing all day everyday. Anyway we had a great little break and are trying to get back into the swing of things.

So my friend Sarah convinced me that a stem mop is a magical tool, and I am beginning to believe her. After trying hers out I got one and truly love it - anyway - that was not the point of the post...
I was stem mopping the living room today and when I walked around the corner I see Kiley dragging Eli by the foot out of the kitchen?! Not sure what was happening but it was rather amusing especially considering the e-mail I got from Eli's teacher today. She said that they had been talking about bullying at school and they were discussing it before attending an assembly. When she asked if anyone had been bullied before Eli promptly raised his hand and told her that he had been bullied, and when she asked by who, he says "My little sister!"
Wow - it has been awhile... We have had a bit of a crazy and busy week.
We have been dealing w/a slab leak at the house. However after three days and multiple holes in random walls the plumber were finally able to find the problem and fix it, now we are just waiting to get the walls and floors fixed. A couple of days after they fixed our slab problem the neighbor knocks on the door the inform me that there is water spraying all over the back of the house. Thank the Lord for good neighbors, he helped me get it turned off and now we are just waiting on it to be fixed, including the hill and retaining wall on the side of the house that had significant wash away issues. I am just praying that I do not discover any more water where it does not belong.
Our woman's bible study started back up this week. We are studying David, which I am excited about and I am leading a small group so that got going Thursday.
The kids also started swimming lessons. They were both very excited Eli has had them before and thoroughly enjoyed them and this was Kiley's first time. They did great and are ready to go back. It is a saltwater pool which confused Eli a bit. He jumped in and says, "This is really weird, it is like the ocean not a pool." Kiley did good but I think that she would make more progress if she was not continually talking to her teacher and asking 100 questions about anything and everything.
Eli had early dismissal yesterday and has Monday and Tuesday off for Martin Luther King Day. Dad does not have to work Monday either so we are looking forward to a nice long break.

The kids enjoyed the farm and helped Grandma load and haul wood with the skid loader - it is amazing how it can be fun for them when they do not have to do it - I certainly do not remember begging to do wood :)
Brian and Eli had fun shooting in the pasture. Eli was worn out after the adventure and made himself a seat out of the wood pile.
We had Christmas at Brian's sister with his family and the kids had fun playing with cousins. They both got introduced to the Wii and played the dance game with the girls. They both did pretty good, Eli could actually compete and Kiley surprised me, she kept getting distracted and using the controller as a microphone thought :)
Got to love the cousin pictures attempts...

Eli headed back to school Monday after two full weeks off. It was a nice break. We had a couple of days at home then headed to KS for about a week and then back home for a couple days before getting back into the routine. We had our family Christmas before we left, then Christmas with my parents and brother on the 24th, Christmas with my mom's extended family the 25th, Christmas with my dad's extended family the 26th, and then Christmas with Brian's dad, sister, and brother the 29th. It was busy and fun!

Gina always does something special for Kiley when she sees her so she painted her nails so they could 'bond' as she likes to say. Aunt Gina your the best!
Got to love the attempts at a cousin picture - I think that I have about 10 I could post... Grandma always has hats for everyone to put on for the pictures before gifts. And no our boys do not always run around half naked (@least in the winter) but Grandma and Papa's house is very warm so they usually end up topless before to long

I hope that everyone has had a great start to 2011. I think that I am glad to see 2010 go. It was a year that brought us some of our highest highs and lowest lows. Just thought that I would share our Christmas card and letter (not really a letter more of a paragraph - but you get the idea...)
We hope that this finds you ending an amazing year. We have had a whirlwind of a few years but God is faithful and we are so blessed. We are settling into life in Texas and enjoying the warmer weather of the south again. Over the past two years we have spent time in four different homes and three states. We enjoyed time in Kansas living close to family but we are all adjusting well to our new surroundings. The kids are growing like crazy and loving life. Eli is doing amazingly well. His injections are balancing his blood work and helping to relieve most of his more serious complications. He is doing amazing in school and loves it. Sometimes I forget that Kiley has just turned three. She is enjoying playing with friends, going to open gym for gymnastics, and trying her best to let everyone know she is in control. Brian is working for the DOD and we are enjoying the family friendly aspects of his job. He enjoyed coaching Eli in soccer this fall, hunting, and is training for a Tough Mudder competition. I am enjoying being with my kids, helping at school each Wednesday, and woman’s bible study. We are praying that this year is one of your best and you take the time to enjoy the truly important things in life.

Happy 2011! We are back from our Christmas travels and are enjoying a couple of days at home before we get back into the swing of things. The Christmas decorations are still up and I still have some things to put back away from our trip but thought that I would do a quick blog before delving back into it.
Last night we enjoyed our fire pit and some sparkling grape juice with the kids before bed. They thought that they were pretty cool drinking bubbly out of a breakable glass. The simple pleasures of life.
This morning we headed back to the exotic animal ranch that we love and spent the morning with the animals. As always we had fun and I think that the camels were more of a hit this time than last. We had the sun roof open on the truck and the camels felt that it was an open invitation to come on in. the kids were laughing hysterically and trying to avoid them before we finally got there heads back out and closed it up.
The sad news at our house is that Eli's beloved pumpkin (that he paid $35 of his own money for in case you did not see that blog...) had finally began to rot and we had to throw it out. We did however have to take one more picture of him with it by the tree to prove that it lasted as long as it did.
I will get back to a Christmas update but thought it would be easier to do today and then backtrack.
